The old and current apps are not the same route. A feed already included in a template may be the old version. Use the current guide for that state rather than assuming every screenshot and control applies to your site.

Check Wix and Instagram requirements

The current Wix Instagram Feed guide documents the professional-account need and the current setup. Confirm the planned account owner can authorise the connection.

Identify the website editor and the person who can install apps. A content editor and social-account owner may have distinct access. Do not solve that by sharing passwords or pasting access tokens into page code.

Review the current app and plan rules. If you choose an external vendor, inspect that vendor's account rules and Wix's supported code placement separately. Native app access does not prove that every external script is allowed.

Add an Instagram feed to Wix: choose the app or embed

For the native route, open the site's editor. Use Add Apps and find the Instagram Feed app by Wix. Confirm the publisher and current listing, then use Add to Site. Those steps come from Wix's current support route, not an unofficial connector with a similar name.

If the site has the old app, inspect Wix's documented transition path. Do not delete a working connection before you know how the replacement will be configured. Keep the profile-link fallback available during the change.

For a hosted alternative, inspect the current vendor's Wix guide and feed scope. Elfsight is a candidate for that comparison. Check the exact widget's limits. Read its view, branding, content and refresh rules. A general package name does not mean unlimited use.

Connect the account

Open the app in the editor and use its current Account Settings connection route. Follow the official approval flow for the planned Creator or Business account. Confirm the profile identity after the connection returns to Wix.

Review any account conversion carefully through Instagram's own controls. The need belongs to the current feed route. Do not convert an unrelated profile just because it is the one already signed in to the browser.

If a sign-in popup does not open, Wix's guide suggests checking the popup blocker or browser state. Apply a targeted check rather than disabling unrelated protections permanently. Use the official flow and stop if the account identity is not the planned one.

After connection, compare the displayed profile with the source. A person managing several accounts can authorise the wrong one. A successful connection message is not enough if the images come from a distinct business profile.

Publish the Instagram feed on Wix

Choose the page section where the feed supports the content. A portfolio page may benefit from current social work; a checkout entrance may not. Keep the website's main action visible and easy to use.

Use the app's current controls to choose the displayed elements and layout. Wix documents separate element, layout and design settings for the current app. Inspect the live result instead of assuming a preset fits every page width.

Keep the number and size of displayed items proportionate to the page. A wall of tiny thumbnails can be harder to use than a small clear display. Captions and links should remain understandable rather than being cropped into decoration.

Publish through the normal Wix controls, then open the public page while signed out. The editor view can differ from the live site. Verify the account and source links in that user state.

Verify mobile and live updates

Open the page on a phone or narrow viewport. Check the feed, any expanded view and the close control. A display should not force sideways page scrolling or obscure another key action.

Use the keyboard to reach the feed and leave it. If an item opens a popup, focus should remain understandable and return to the page when it closes. Do not rely on hover alone to reveal the only useful link.

Compare a recent allowed post with the current feed. Use the app's documented refresh behavior rather than assuming instant updates. A missing unsupported content type is a distinct issue from a broken account connection.

Keep a plain profile link visible. The link still works when the feed cannot load. It also leads to content the app may not display. Essential service facts should remain normal website content.

Reconnect and troubleshoot

Identify the app version first

Wix's support distinguishes the old app from the current app. A template-provided installation can differ from a newly added one. Use the guide for the real version before changing the account or removing the display.

An old-app help page is not evidence that the old route can still be installed from the current marketplace. Likewise, a current-app setting may not exist in the older screen. Keep the distinction explicit when seeking support.

Check account access and the public page

Inspect whether the planned account is still connected and allowed. Then compare the live page with the editor. If the app shows a connection error, follow Wix's current renewal steps. Do not add another copy to hide the fault.

If the vendor view is current but the public page is not, inspect publication and useful caching. Keep the last observed post and time as evidence. Do not call it a vendor-wide outage without an official dated source.

Use the current targeted repair

Wix's current guide includes an exact reconnection route for an invalid-parameter error. Follow that official sequence only for the matching observed state. Do not revoke unrelated app permissions or remove every account connection as a general experiment.

Verify the profile identity again after any renewal. A distinct approved profile can produce a display while leaving the real business task unresolved. Confirm the source links, not just the presence of images.

Remove or replace cleanly

Remove the known app or embedded placement through the supported Wix route, then inspect the live page. If an external snippet was added separately, handle that recorded location too. Avoid deleting unrelated site code.

Disconnect the external account through its supported controls when retiring the connection. Removing a website display does not delete the source posts. Handle a vendor plan separately from the visible page element.

Use Instagram widget types if a plain profile or post link would serve the task. The embed guide explains the broader difference between one post and a maintained feed.

Check the account name after reconnection

A person may manage more than one social profile. After a new connection, read the account name and open a post link. Do not judge success only by seeing images in the app.

If the wrong profile appears, correct the connection through the supported route. Do not rename the page to make the mismatch less obvious. The source should match the business the site describes.

Now inspect the live page. The editor can show an account state that the public page has not yet saved. Publish the intended change and check again while signed out.

Keep the plain profile link in the same review. It should point to the current intended account too. A feed and a fallback leading to distinct profiles leave the user with a confusing result.

Continue with the right task

FAQ

Can I use a personal Instagram account?

Wix's current app guide needs a Creator or Business account for the documented feed route. Check the planned profile and current official instructions before connecting. An older personal-account tutorial should not be treated as evidence that the same route remains supported today.

Why does an old tutorial show different controls?

Wix distinguishes old and current versions of the Instagram Feed app. A site template may contain an older installation. Identify the real app version and use its current support or migration guide. Do not assume a setting missing from your screen can be enabled by pasting unrelated code.
