Add an Instagram feed to Squarespace with its native block

The Squarespace Instagram block guide documents adding the block, choosing a connected account and setting a layout. It describes a display of recent posts. It does not cover every post type or a hashtag search.

Use that current guide instead of an old personal-account connection tutorial. The account need is material to the setup. Confirm that the person making the connection has authority to use the planned profile.

Confirm account and site-plan requirements

For the native route, inspect the professional account and the site's connected-account state. For an external vendor, inspect both its account rules and Squarespace's current code permissions. A code block is not proof that every script is allowed.

Elfsight's Instagram feed route is a hosted candidate to assess. Check its current limits and supported source connection. Do not assume the external route has the same refresh or content rules as the native block.

Connect or generate an embed

For the native route, edit the page and add an Instagram block. Choose the intended connected account. If it is missing, follow the current add-account flow. Confirm the correct profile before selecting the display. Save the page after choosing a suitable layout.

For a hosted route, get the code from the correct vendor account. Use its documented Squarespace placement. Record the location. Avoid keeping the same feed in both a block and a separate injected script by accident.

Check the Instagram feed on Squarespace after saving

Open the live page while signed out. Check the source links and compare recent allowed posts with the vendor's documented behavior. Squarespace says these blocks refresh on an interval. A new post may take time to appear.

Inspect the phone layout and any popup. The display should remain readable and easy to leave. Keep a normal link to the Instagram profile as a fallback if the connection is unavailable.

Keep key service facts outside the feed. Opening hours, booking instructions and contact details should not depend on a social connection loading. A feed is supporting content rather than the site's only notice area.

Reconnect and remove

If the native feed is stale, inspect the connected account and follow Squarespace's current reset steps. If it is hosted, use that vendor's connection diagnostics. The troubleshooting guide separates those routes.

Remove the recorded block or snippet when retiring the display, then inspect the live page. Disconnecting the vendor and removing website code are distinct tasks. Do not delete source posts as a repair for a website placement problem.

Compare Instagram widget types when you only need a post or profile link. Use the main feed guide for the wider permission and upkeep checks.

Keep the profile clear

Open a post link from the public page and confirm the intended profile. Images alone are a weaker identity check when one person manages several accounts.

Compare the saved page with the editor

After saving, open the public page in a separate signed-out window. Check the chosen profile and the space around the block. Then use a phone-sized view and follow a post link. If the editor looks right but the public page differs, inspect the saved page and account state before adding a second copy of the feed.

FAQ

Can an old personal-account tutorial still be used?

Use the current official Squarespace Instagram-block guide for your account. Its present route requires a professional account. Older instructions may describe a different connection. Check account ownership and the supported setup instead of forcing an old snippet into a new page.

Does a new Instagram post appear immediately?

Do not assume immediate refresh. Squarespace describes an update interval for its blocks, and hosted vendors have their own behavior. Compare the correct source and documented refresh rule before reconnecting. Keep a clearly labelled profile link available to visitors while checking.
